The Darwin Sailing Club Board


The Board’s primary role is one of stewardship and trusteeship on behalf of the members and the broader stakeholders of Sailing in Darwin, ensuring the Club remains viable and effective in the present and in the future. The Board is ultimately accountable for all organisation matters, including establishing the Club’s strategic direction and priorities in line with the Club’s Mission and Vision.

The Darwin Sailing Club Board Consists of 7 Board Members.

Commodore

Jon Wardill OAM

The Commodore provides leadership and guidance to the Board, ensuring that the DSC remains compliant and viable in the long term, and acts as the spokesperson for the Club, maintaining key relationships both within and external to the DSC

Vice Commodore

James Livesley

The Vice Commodore supports the Commodore in providing leadership and guidance to the Board, ensuring that the DSC remains viable and compliant, and deputises for the Commodore as and when required.

Lucille Panting

Darwin Sailing Club Board Members provide informed, strategic decision making and general support for the DSC and act as a conduit between members and the Board on matters relating to governance, compliance and strategy.

Club Treasurer

Ian Pollock

The Club Treasurer is responsible for the overall financial governance of the DSC to allow the Board to provide good decision-making, including the preparation and monitoring of budgets, and expenditure for future forecasting.

Club Secretary

Ryan Sanders

The Club Secretary is responsible for the documentation and communication of the activities of the Board, including preparing meeting agendas, controlling and distributing minutes, receiving and disseminating correspondence, and fulfilling the legal requirements of the Public Officer position.

Darwin Sailing Club Sub-Committees


The Darwin Sailing Club Sailing Committee, chaired by the Rear Commodore Sailing, performs 3 key functions under the Club's Constitution. These are the maintaining of the Club's list of Active Sailors, making rules binding on all members engaged in Club Sailing and finally, the organising and safe running all Club Sailing, Junior and Youth sailing events.

The Darwin Sailing Club Training Committee, chaired by the Rear Commodore Training, again under the Club's Constitution, oversees the safe running of all matters relating to Club Training activities.

Rear Commodore Sailing

Peter Gibb

The Darwin Sailing Club Sailing Committee oversees the development of the annual social and competitive sailing program for the DSC, and Junior and Youth Development programs, in line with the Club’s goals and objectives identified by the DSC Board.
