Sail, socalise and dine in the heart of Darwin
The inaugural Hardy Aviation Darwin Open Match Racing Regatta which will be held at DSC Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd September 2017 is now calling for entries.
The event has been granted World Sailing Grade 4 status. The regatta is by invitation to crews of 4 or 5, with a crew weight 350 KG, DSC has already received expressions of support from skippers from NT and the USA.
Members are encouraged to form a team for this fun regatta.
Not more than eight teams will be invited to attend this inaugural event. Applications for invitation must be submitted via the on-line application form.
The regatta will be sailed on Fannie Bay in the DSC's new fleet of Elliott 7 keelboats. The build quality ensures evenly matched performance.
The courses will be standard match racing windward/leeward configuration. Every team will race each other team in the round-robin format, followed by semi-finals and finals series, ensuring a true test of match racing in all conditions.
With further support from the Audi Centre, there will be a total of $1,500 in prize money for the event.
The success of the Australian Maid Youth Match Racing Regatta has equipped the club to conduct the open regatta to a high standard.
The regatta is a key component of the DSC’s policy to provide a varied sailing program and equip youth and open age group members to compete in similar regattas outside the NT.
