DSC Boat Hire

Hiring boats is a great way to get out on the water to practice your skills if you don’t own a boat. Our dinghy and keelboat fleet is available for full members to hire, given that they have previous sailing experience (at least Start Sailing 2 or Tackers 3, alternatively please contact the Training Coordinator or Sailing Manager for a skills assessment). Come down and rent a boat by yourself or with friends and family and you might even be lucky enough to see a dugong, turtle, dolphin or manta ray – all of which are regularly seen in Fannie Bay!

If you have completed a sailing course but are yet to purchase your own boat, we encourage you to continue sailing by hiring a club boat either for pleasure sailing or for any of our social sailing events. These include the Commodore’s Opening Day, Sand Bar Barbecue, Twilight Sailing, Sunday Sailing Club and Novice Helm. These events are extremely popular, so be sure to get in early and book your boat.

Off The Beach Boat Hire

Here at the Darwin Sailing Club we have a range of dinghies available for hire by full sailing members, including Ozi Optis for younger kids, Picos and Pacers for youths and adults, and a Bahia for those who want to sail with a few friends or even the whole family.

The Club charges $20 per hire for Picos and Pacers, $30.00 for the Bahia and $10.00 for an Ozi Opti, this includes a sailing dinghy and life jacket. Should you wish to hire a Club dinghy outside of training hours, this will include an additional fee of $50 per hour for rescue cover. A book of 6 vouchers can be purchased for $100 – pay for 5 hires, get 1 free! Please present your payment receipt to the Sailing Office prior to collection of hire boat.

Note: Club boats are used for training, therefore prior booking is essential to ensure availability. Please apply to book your boat via the Sailing Office at least 1 week prior to use. Hiring arrangements must be confirmed by the Sailing or Training Officer before commencement.
