Our small dinghies are a great way to have fun, cool down and have a chance of seeing a dugong, a turtle, a dolphin or a manta ray, all of which are regularly seen in Fannie Bay! Come down with your friends or family for a great outing full of fun and adventure!
Hire dinghies are available to full Club members, including Junior Members who are experienced sailors (at least Start Sailing Level 2 or Tackers 3) and able swimmers. The Club has a fleet of OziOptis for the young kids, Picos and Pacers (with or without headsail) for youth and adults and a Bahia for those that want to sail with the whole family. We also have windsurfers for hire to accredited sailors. Dinghy hire is restricted to times when we have a safety boat on the water, which is most days through the sailing season. See Sailing Manager for details.
If you have completed a sailing course but are yet to purchase your own boat, you are encouraged to continue sailing by hiring a club boat for any of our social sailing events. These include the Commodore's Opening Day, Sand Bar Barbecue, Twilight Sailing and Novice Helm. These events attract loads of boat hire so be sure to get in early and book your boat.
The Club charges $20 per session for hire of a sailing dinghy and life jacket, payment to be made via the office. A book of 6 vouchers can be purchased for $100, pay for 5 hires, get 1 free! Invoice from payment is to be presented to the Sailing Office prior to collection of hire boat.
In January 2017 the club took delivery of a fleet of four new Elliott 7s. These are widely used by sailing clubs as an adult learn to sail craft, as well as being ideal for match racing, fleet racing and social sailing activities. Please note that these boats are only available to be hired by financial Full Members of DSC.
