Throughout the year there are many fun, social sails that aren't so much about the finish line, when there is one, as the party afterwards. Check them out on the calendar, these events are as much about socialising as racing: Fannie Bay Bucket regatta, Turnball Bay race weekend, Crab Claw race weekend, Lake Argyle regatta, the sand bar barbecue, and of course our regular Friday twilight sails.
The waters around the Darwin Sailing Club provide great opportunities for social sailing and on water fun. These are great events for sailors (and guests) to enjoy the NT dry season on the water. This season's social on-water program started with a new event - the Fannie Bay Bucket regatta.
Long-standing popular events include the Turnbull Bay race and barbecue and Crab Claw weekend, which are both in the adjoining Bynoe Harbour. The Lake Argyle regatta is probably the most remote of any conducted by a sailing club anywhere. Our off the beach sailors tow their boats around 830km to the launch ramp! Our annual sand bar barbecue is often more sand then sailing, that is of course until the tide comes in!
There are plenty of other more impromptu events occurring throughout the year. These are often arranged among members on Thursday evenings at the club.
