The Darwin Sailing Club is proud to announce the third annual Australian Maid Youth Match Racing Regatta which will be held at DSC from Monday 6th July to Friday 10th July 2020.

The event has been granted World Sailing Grade 3 status. The regatta is by invitation to crews of 4 or 5, who have not reached their 23rd birthday on or before 1st July 2020. DSC is hoping to build on the success of the inaugural event in 2017.

Not more than eight teams will be invited to attend the regatta. Applications for invitation must be submitted via the on-line application form.

The regatta will be sailed on Fannie Bay in the DSC's fleet of Elliott 7 keelboats. The build quality ensures evenly matched performance.

The courses will be standard match racing windward/leeward configuration. Every team will race each other team in the round-robin format, followed by quarter-finals, semi-finals and finals series, ensuring a true test of match racing in all conditions.

DSC are committed to providing a well conducted event with most of the race management and umpire teams from the previous events returning for 2020.

Competitors will compete for the ‘Australian Maid’ perpetual trophy, named after Dr Jon Wardill’s boat. For 26 years, Jon and ‘Australian Maid’ provided an unparalleled opportunity for Northern Territory youth sailors to compete in international keelboat competition, at regattas in Australia, Asia, Europe, UK, and North America.

The regatta is a key component of the DSC’s policy to develop high level sailing skills and teamwork and to maintain engagement of youth.

DSC members and staff are pleased to offer accommodation to any invited international or interstate teams during the regatta.
