The Darwin Sailing Club Training Academy

Work with Us

Seasonal Watersports Instructor

Here at the Darwin Sailing Club our Training season runs from May till October to match with our beautiful Dry Season weather.  We have a growing Training Academy that runs 7 days a week throughout this period and are looking for Instructor to join us in 2024!

We are situated on the beautiful Fannie Bay and run our programs both on the bay and also around the corner at Lake Alexander in East Point Reserve. Fannie Bay is about a 5 - 8 minute drive from Darwin City and close to a lot of accommodation.

We have a strong Instructor Development Program where you will be able to get upskilling opportunities in additions to opportunities to work in other areas of the club if you wish including the bar, admin and maintenance. We also have connections with clubs across Australia where you can get work for the Summer season (October - March).

We focus on not only adult, youth and kids learn to sail programs but also work with schools, community groups, corporate businesses, disability & disadvantage programs to teach and show how great sailing and being on the water is. We currently conduct our programs on Keelboats (Elliott 7s), Dinghies (Pacers), Kids (Opti's) and have just added SUPs and Wings in recent years.

If you currently hold RYA Qualifications, there is a process to convert them to Australian Sailing Qualifications, however it does take time, so don't hold off on applying.

We are looking for all types of watersports instructors, however we do require you to have a minimum of dinghy instructor qualified. We do have opportunities throughout the year to upskill, depending on the senior instructors available.
